Scary Story

Let's pretend this picture isn't hideous and celebrate that my best friend Maddy got engaged and I am so happy for her!
That's not the scary story; The scary story happened this same night...

Gavin got a text from Maddy's now fiance saying that he was going to propose that night then bring Maddy to his apartment, so we should get to his apartment before them in order to surprise Maddy and celebrate the engagement. I was able to go but Gavin couldn't so I headed up by myself, never having been to this particular apartment before. I got the address and typed it into my GPS then followed the blue dot until I got where I was supposed to be. Despite it being a nice area, it was a very dark and unlit street. My car was right where the blue dot said I was supposed to be but I didn't know if I was supposed to head to the house on the left or the house on the right. My destination was a basement apartment and my instructions were to go through the gate on the left, around back, and down the stairs to the basement door. I figured I would just pick one house and try it.

I chose the house on my left. It was a big house and it looked like nobody was home. There was a walkway headed through the gate on the left of the house and the gate was easy to open so I walked into the backyard. I looked around for a bit and didn't see any stairs or a basement door so I figured I was at the wrong house and I would just head to the house that was on my right. I got out my phone and turned on my flashlight to help me navigate out of the backyard. When I turned on my phone light, it illuminated something that took me a minute to process: an old wooden chair with cuffs, like hand cuffs, on the ankles and wrists of the chair and a light hanging over the chair.
After staring for a good thirty seconds I realized I needed to get outta there! I sprinted and didn't even close the gate. I ran to the correct backyard, down the stairs, to the basement door and waited until Maddy and her new fiance arrived.
Who owns a chair like that?!

TBT I hear you was eating his cat food...

TBT to that one time I stole a letter from a homeless camp.
If you know "baby", pass this on to her from "Dave" because,
unfortunately, she never received her letter.

P.S. Excuse the language in the letter. Also I understand whoever wrote this is a child of God and my sole purpose of posting this is not to poke fun at him, though you can admit the lack of punctuation and other things is humorous.

Note to Self

Dear Stranger,
Thank you! You taught me a valuable lesson at the grocery store and it's one I can pass on to others...
It's often you see parents at the grocery store dragging along their complaining kids and they all just look frustrated and fed up. All too easy, I can understand why this happens.
There was a mom and a 3 or 4 year old daughter. The little girl had a cute squeaky voice and was talking away and touching everything and asking all sorts of questions. She'd ask questions like "what's a carrot and why is this one so big?" and "Is this an onion, why do people buy onions?" and instead of giving typical mom answers like "yeah, let's hurry" or "don't touch that, they make things taste better", I saw this mom crouch down and stare at the big carrot with her little girl and the mom explained to her daughter how carrots grow out of the ground. Their three item list probably took 45 minutes to check off but both mother and daughter seemed to be enjoying their shopping experience more than anyone else in the store.
Note to self... be a mother like that!
