Gav & I are taking the next step in our relationship and becoming a mom & dad!
Most of you already know this, considering I am 5 months along, but I decided to make an announcement for the record.
We are due November 16th.
We already had our gender ultrasound and it's a

We are keeping it a surprise for everyone, including ourselves. I'm not really sure the reasoning behind this but I do know that we would be broke already if we knew the gender... baby clothes are so cute!
We don't have all the logistics planned out yet... who is going to work where and when and coaching and school and babysitting and money and space and the list goes on. But stay tuned for when we do figure these things out! I'm ok with not knowing... we like surprises!

The Narrows in Southern Utah

That time back in May we went to Hurricane, UT for a wedding and used it as an excuse to explore Zion National Park...
To do this hike you just need to park at the Zion National Park visitor center, buy a day pass, and take the shuttle to the last stop. It's about a half hour shuttle ride from the visitor center to the trailhead of the Narrows.
The research I did beforehand made me nervous about not having proper shoes or waders or a walking stick. Yah that research was a tourist trap. All that gear is pretty unnecessary except maybe a walking stick. As long as you have water shoes or sandals (Keens, Teva's, Chaco's, etc.) you'll be fine. It's a real easy area to explore, the scenery is great, and the water feels good on a hot day! Bring snacks!

Millcreek Canyon

Last night Maddy and I planned a spur of the moment campfire trip. We met around 6, stuffed all our gear in the Tahoe, and headed up Millcreek Canyon. After a few turnarounds and trails of false hope, we found a perfect day spot with a fire pit and mountain air. We brought tinfoil dinners and roasted s'mores and enjoyed each other's company.
Aaron and Maddy kept telling us about their latest t.v. hype: Naked & Afraid. Apparently this is a series where a couple gets thrown into the wilderness with nothing and they have figure out how to survive for 21 days. I always thought I could handle that sort of experience. I continued with this prideful thought pattern until I saw Jake & Aaron gut fish with their bare hands and stick it over a hanger to cook in the fire. Turns out I'd need to brush up on my edible plant knowledge before submitting myself to the Discovery Channel.
Around 10:30 an officer showed up and told us he was locking the gates so we needed to head down the canyon. We rushed our clean-up and dumped our cooler on the fire, filled our arms, and threw everything in the back of the car. We got to the entrance of our campground and found that we were too late. If I had a nickel for every time a lock got in between me and smooth sailing, I swear I'd be rich! A lockpicking set has been added to the list of future investments for the Scott family.
We were without cell phone service but it took the 6 of us about 3 minutes to come up with a few plans.
Plan 1. Sleep in the car.
Plan 2. Walk until getting cell phone service and call for a ride.
Plan 3. Jake & Aaron run towards the valley until coming up another plan.
Plan 4. Hitch-hike down the canyon until getting cell phone service or finding the power hungry officer whom we TOLD we were packing up and driving down.
Plan 5. Go Naked & Afraid style.
An elderly couple ended up responding to our hitch-hiking thumbs. Thanks Mara & Gary (f-pod's)! Jake and Mary got in their car and it didn't take long for them to run into the cop and bring him back up to unlock the gate for us. He was not very happy to say the least. He doesn't know who he's messing with. Just kidding.
