Our big event for May was a little Arkansas getaway for Gavin and I. That trip deserves its own post. My mom came out to stay and play with Owen, so it was exciting for him too.  

We celebrated Mother's day. I love hearing the kids sing in church on Mother's day, and I think this is the first time I got mother's day gifts from Owen, which is exciting! He picked out the game "slime ball" for me, and painted me a picture at church.

Owen went hit balls at the driving range a few times this month and he is just the cutest little golfer. He's pretty good too! 

Our friends Troy and Jazmin came up from Houston for Memorial Day Weekend. We went to Joe Pool Lake and a dinner date with them and the Knaras's. Kalie is due with her second girl in July!

We are about out of the perfect weather and into the heat of the summer, but we've been taking advantage of it with pool days, splash pads, and bike rides.

April 2018

April in Texas is the best! Besides the tulips, and the visit from Gavin's family, here are some other fun things we did this past month.

We had the opportunity to get to visit and tour Cathy's Critters. We had to drive to farmland, but it was worth it!

We met some friends online and met up with them at Safari Run- a fun indoor play place in Plano.

 We went to Little Elm Beach again with some friends. Such cute kids!

 I've got my maternity swimsuit on and my Diet Coke open! 

 As we were walking out the door to go to the beach, Owen fell and scratched his head pretty darn good. It called for a popsicle stop!

 We (Gavin) built Owen a bed! We needed to make space for a crib!

I finished up another season of coaching lacrosse.

And we did the usual joy school, bike rides, park trips, and play dates. 

Soaking up the last days of this stage of life!

Scott's Springtime Surprise

In February, Sue let me know that her and Rick wanted to come visit soon. We found a good time and didn't tell anyone! 
They got here on a Wednesday, the last week of March, and came with me to pick up Owen from preschool. It took Owen a minute to register what was going on, but he was all smiles the rest of the day and kept saying "this is the best surprise!"
I told Gavin I had a dinner and wanted him to come with me. When I went to pick him up for the said "dinner," his parents were with me. Because it's busy season, Gavin couldn't really take time off work to hang out with them, but it was fun to take him to dinner before he started working again. It totally caught him off guard!

went to Torchy's of course. This was right after they surprised Owen... he was so cute and happy!

Went to Little Elm Beach. It was too cold to completely swim, but hanging out on the beach, building sand castles, and riding in the kayak was fun!

 We went to the Frontiers of Flight museum. I chose this activity because I thought Rick would like it. I was surprised by how much we all enjoyed it! We lucked out and went on a day where they flew in old war planes and let us climb through them.

It was bluebonnet season, which is a big deal in Texas. So we went on a drive through the country to see the bluebonnets. It's like the equivalent of going for a drive to see the fall leaves in Utah.

And because this required us to drive through downtown on a Saturday, we had to stop at the Farmer's Market for pudding and pickles. I think that means we can be considered locals!

It was a quick trip for them but we're glad they came! We love visitors!
