Sometimes...most the time... it stinks working Sundays. Working Sundays means staying in the house with 2 other staff and 12 teenage girls while trying to cook dinner, get chores done, organize family phone calls, make the girls participate in PE, agree on movies and games, etc. etc.
Yesterday I made the executive decision to put all my girls in a van and drive them 7 miles up Payson canyon to Grotto Falls. It was worth it.
The hike was short enough that everyone could handle it. The girls liked being able to get misted by the falls and get their feet wet. The drive up the canyon was gorgeous. I'd do it again.
Anything to breathe crisp mountain air!
Getting there
Take I-15 to the Payson Main Street Exit. Get off the exit heading east. Take Main Street until you hit 100 North. Turn left on 100 North. Turn right on 600 East. This road will take you right up the canyon through "Nebo Scenic Loop". The trailhead is 6-7 miles up the canyon and is marked as the "Grotto Trail". The trailhead takes 15-20 minutes to get to from the freeway exit.
